Mark Pino has decided to leave Ovipositor. Call it creative differences, call it wanting to spend more time with his family, call it whatever you'd like. He's gone, we'll miss him, and we wish him the best in his musical endeavors. He hasn't retired from music, so you can still catch him playing in Barney Cauldron.
We're not exactly sure what happens next. On the one hand, his unique drumming helps define the Ovipositor songs he plays on, and that is irreplaceable. So Ovipositor as most have known it is done. However, it was my band before he came along, and the ideas that were at the heart of the whole thing still have some weight to them. I'm not sure if I want to keep going after those ideas or not, but if I do it'll be under the Ovipositor banner. Besides, keeping going would give people yet one more reason to compare us to The Fall.
And we just finished a new record - Everyone Has Their Tipping Point. We really like it, and it would be fun to play some shows behind it. Regardless of whether we remain a band or not, we're planning to put it out, probably in the early spring.
Meanwhile, Max is taking some classes and I'm working on some film projects I've had on the back shelf for months. We're in no hurry to decide what happens next, but we'll post here when something does happen.
